Favorite Festive Drinks

 As we approach the holidays, I’m reminded of all the classic and comforting things that come with this time of year. No matter what or how we celebrate, it seems this season gives all of us greater opportunities to spend time with family, enjoy delicious food, and experience the changing weather outside. It’s true that as the days start getting colder we are often forced indoors. Nevertheless, I tend to see this as something that can positively bind us all. We at Wander Coffee have come to love the days when we’re forced to scurry inside, take refuge by a fire, and enjoy hot beverages with the ones we love.

 

Whether you’re looking for something to serve at an upcoming holiday or simply to enjoy on a blistery day, it’s time to bust out the seasonal drinks we all crave. Most of the year I tend to drink black coffee. However, I like to indulge in more luxurious drinks during the holidays. There is something about a delicious, well-crafted, coffee drink that can really warm the spirits. In honor of this, I have compiled a list of my top five winter drinks below. Let me know if you have favorites we should try out as well!

 

Pumpkin Pie Latte

 

Ingredients: Espresso, steamed milk, pumpkin pie filling, white chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, whipped cream

 

  1. Mix 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie filling with 1/2 tablespoon white chocolate and a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg.

  2. Pull a double shot of espresso and combine with the pumpkin mixture.

  3. Steam 12 oz. milk to 170 degrees F. (It needs to be a little hotter than normal to properly melt the pumpkin mixture.)

  4. Pour milk into pumpkin mixture and top with whipped cream and cinnamon.

 

First Snow Latte

 

Ingredients: Espresso, steamed milk, mint, white chocolate

 

  1. Pull a double shot of espresso into a 12 oz. cup.

  2. In a steam pitcher, mix 1/2 tablespoon mint flavoring or crushed peppermint candies and 1 tablespoon white chocolate powder with 12 oz. milk.

  3. Steam peppermint milk mixture to 160-170 degrees F.

  4. Pour the steamed milk into the espresso.

  5. Top with whip cream and garnish with a mint leaf.

 

Wander White Russian

 

Ingredients: Coffee, vodka, cream, vanilla syrup

 

  1. Brew 12 oz. of your favorite Wander coffee.

  2. Add 1 shot of vodka, 1 teaspoon vanilla syrup, and a dash of cream.

  3. Stir and enjoy.

 

Kahlua Mocha

 

Ingredients: Espresso, steamed milk, Kahlua, chocolate powder, chocolate sauce, whipped cream

 

  1. Pull a double shot of espresso and add 1 shot of Kahlua (or 2 shots if you’re feeling extra festive).

  2. Add 1 tablespoon chocolate powder to 12 oz. milk and steam to 160 degrees F.

  3. Pour the steamed chocolate milk into the espresso mixture.

  4. Top with whipped cream and drizzle with chocolate sauce.

 

Congo Mwise Buhoyo

 

Okay, I admit this isn't a recipe in the traditional sense, but I can't resist adding these perfect holiday beans to the list. This delightful coffee from the Congo has been one of our favorites. The flavors are complex and bright, but it is completely balanced. Whether brewed as a pour over or in an automatic coffee machine, this coffee has yet to disappoint. Order yours today!
